crtdaydreams: The demand was identified and they've been snuffled up by folks charging a hefty markup, I don't see why he who hold the money printer wouldn't wave around a fat wad to recirculate fritzed versions. - The people who are looking for them are most likely to be of interest to various 3 letter organisations.

crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2021-10-25#1061851 >> was looking at a chicom riscv mainboard compatible with the framework laptops as I currently don't own any hardware that's not in essence, [fritzed](http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log-search?q=fritz&chan=asciilifeform)
crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-03-26#1118084 << nfi, not one of them. what's the point in disk encryption if your system is backdoored by the PSP, ME etc anyway? by virtue of any input into the fritzed box either by dongle, keeb, mouse etc your keys at some pt become visible to the ring -3 chip
asciilifeform: mats: recall previous leaks. lulzily errytime 'broken fritz boobytrap' is spun as 'vulnerability' (somehow the presence of the fritz ~aint~ a vuln. ('or are you a terrorist!'))

billymg: asciilifeform: that's a fair point, if people start replacing the ecu they'll start fritzing all the individual parts
asciilifeform: verisimilitude: 'used' crapple market afaik long-dead, what with the epoxied pnojes with individually fritzchipped parts (i.e. can't interchange), the lappies with soldered-in ssds, etc
dulapbot: Logged on 2022-03-07 14:12:27 billymg: i like the concept though, the idea of defritzing the enemy's wares. i imagine it'd make them upset too "hey! that wasn't included in the purchase price!"
billymg: also, as more people start to realize this is a problem, the used / non-fritzed market will eventually dry up. only option will be to buy new and replace the chip

bonechewer: It's an OpenPOWER clone on a 180nm process, so not going to revolutionise the world of computing, but still it would be nice for there to exist another Fritz-free CPU
dulapbot: (trilema) 2016-10-04 asciilifeform: 'AMD’s PSP is based around a single 32-bit ARM Cortex-A5, with its own isolated ROM and SRAM but has access to system memory and resources. dulapbot: (trilema) 2017-05-02 asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: incidentally: i fully expect the ~next~ generation of intel fritz to use nic-independent trigger (e.g., magic string in memory)

asciilifeform: it dun 100% keep up with the Gb/s pipe, which is annoying, but i like that it is fanless and unfritzed fwiw

asciilifeform: punkman: i've not tried 'epic', they were the 1st amd w/ builtin fritz

atuttle: woah, the fritz chip is BGA? I thought it was QFN. are you serious?
atuttle: asciilifeform, by the way, if you never got around to making the fritzchip-replacement PCB I might try it. I have a pair of gru-bobs and a scarlet which are fritzed, unlike my kevin. But if you already designed one and are willing to share it there is no sense duplicating the effort.
atuttle: asciilifeform, did you ever get around to making that defritzing module? you know, the one that goes in place of the cr50. if not, it looks pretty easy; most of the pins can just be passed straight through. at most, maybe a CPLD to generate the 3v3 enable and the keyboard strobe
asciilifeform: punkman: lol, fritzchip coin? (afaik not the 1st such, even)
asciilifeform: punkman: lol, new fritz chip? there's over9000 of these already
magnus: I would do -anything- to avoid that but... it may come down to that eventually... as all useable hardware will be fritz'd in one way or another...

asciilifeform: see microshit's 'palladium', the orig. fritz chip plan from '90s.
fromloper1121: Stanislav, instead of trying to sell those few SmartProbes for 1 BTC, you could fund the reverse engineering and production of compatible clones for a fraction of 1 BTC and make this device much more accessible to the hardware tinkerers like you, fighters with a FritzChip industry. Since a Sage company is dead, no one can sue you for a copyright
asciilifeform: unrelatedly: folx interested in smmism (smm was how boobytraps were often implemented prior to proper fritzchip) will find that it is detailed in amd opteron datashit; and that you can singlestep smm handler w/ 'sage' probe on irons where there is connector for same.
dllud: Yup, you will be in for a sad ride in the next few years. The laptops that may come out without Fritz chips will be those kinds of community projects with bulky shitty chassis.
