(pest) lobbes[asciilifeform]: I've very little experience with chroot, but from my initial research it seems that this is because debootstrap is trying to chroot into a amd64 filesystem, whereas my pinebook is aarch64. I'll abandon pentacle-on-pinebook for now if so, but wanted to see if I'm missing something simple here
(pest) lobbes[asciilifeform]: has anyone tried bootstrapping pentacle on aarch64? I bought one of those pinebooks and was experimenting putting a pentacle environment on it
(pest) asciilifeform: signpost: what's running on the pinebook? ( asciilifeform still has his, collecting dust, with the stock shitlinux it runs with speed and reliability of overheated 486dx )
(pest) signpost[asciilifeform]: been driving the pinebook more actually. at least priced as disposable as they are, and pretty sturdy tbh
(asciilifeform) vex: also signpost, re pinebook gentoo, how the actual fuck to boout from sd?
(pest) signpost[asciilifeform]: wew gentoo on pinebook lives.
(asciilifeform) vex: how many pinebooks out there?
(asciilifeform) signpost: pinebook was already sitting here useless; figured I'd see what could be wrung from it.
(asciilifeform) signpost: will let ya know. this will be bleeding-edge gentoo since I pulled in someone's overlay for the manjaro-patched pinebook compatible kernel and firmware.
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: I recently got the Pinebook Pro running for over a month before it forced me to reboot it.
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: I just use an external keyboard with the Pinebook Pro, signpost.

(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: The Pinebook Pro isn't great, no.
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: I don't trust the Pinebook Pro anyway, but it would be nice to be able to trust it just a little.
(asciilifeform) signpost also bought pinebook pro, now collecting dust
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: Well, until I bought the Pinebook Pro, maybe a few times a year.
(asciilifeform) asciilifeform couldn't even bring himself to use the latter, his 'pinebook' gathers dust for the lack of a civilized xorg for the thing that could sit on civilized linux
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: It's a good thing I continually push back writing my review of the Pinebook Pro.
(asciilifeform) asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: could be similar to 'pinebook's audio-cum-rs232console thing
(asciilifeform) signpost: only problem with pinebook is the entirely dogshit trackpad
(asciilifeform) asciilifeform: meanwhile, verisimilitude , signpost , possibly others : somebody baked gentoo for 'pinebook' supposedly. (not had chance to test)
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: When my Pinebook arrives, I'll have an ARM.
(asciilifeform) asciilifeform: trinque: what do you run on the pinebook?
(asciilifeform) verisimilitude: I appreciate the recommendation, asciilifeform; I've ordered a Pinebook Pro, and will probably write an analysis on it.

(asciilifeform) asciilifeform: verisimilitude: i also want. may want to try 'pinebook' (somewhat kludgy arm64 box, i have one here, tho no civilized linux for it quite yet)
(asciilifeform) asciilifeform: ( rk3399 possibly moar, but i haven't yet tried porting to it. tho i have one to test with nao. )
(asciilifeform) snsabot: Logged on 2020-08-11 16:37:43 PeterL: Oh, I wanted to ask you: what do you think of that Pinebook you got? Is it as good as you had hoped it would be?
