asciilifeform: i've written , as experiment, rsa for 8bit micros, but imho very few folx could live with it (multi-hour decrypt, multi-day keygen)
asciilifeform: in practice, late 486 is prolly the slowest/memory-poorest that can be used for everyday rsa.
asciilifeform: 'apu2' later from same vendor had the pad, but probe will not function, amd locked the hdt module and can only be unlocked with their rsa key
mike_c: I am happy to have a conversation with those not negrated, or anyone about the situation. I'm not going to hire you to represent me (but do honestly appreciate the offer), and I'm not yet willing to work my way back into the good graces of the realm.
asciilifeform: jfw: ecc also has an 'interesting' political history (usg pushed it aggressively for ~20y, and w/ entirely fraudulent claims of '256b ecc is equiv to 4096b rsa' etc)
asciilifeform: ( and , worse, rsa (unlike e.g. rabin's method) not afaik proven to rest entirely on the difficulty of factoring. )
asciilifeform: jfw: not quite same. rsa rests on specific conjecture.
jfw: ty for that comment asciilifeform, makes good futher context. Isn't RSA in that same snake-oil category though?
asciilifeform: jfw: re ecc -- part of why asciilifeform avoided to implement ecc (even tho ultimately it must be done, for a solid btctron) is that safety-critical mechanisms imho oughta be implemented by people who ~understand~ how they work. i understand how rsa worx. but ecc, presently, not.
asciilifeform focused exclusively on rsa, to date, so not had chance to attempt
asciilifeform: shinohai: i wrote (but not published, it was ~useless) a demo rsa for 6502. you wouldn't want to use.
shinohai: I am definitely looking forward to rsa keygen. (mips port also sounds quite interesting)
asciilifeform: shinohai: re adaism , i have a kilometre of ffa material in backlog also ( keccak; integration of bvt's asmisms ; cookbooks for rsa & cs key gen ; standalone util. form ; mips port ; others. )
asciilifeform: certain other nearby vendors wanted 2-3x the price, and even after lengthy conversation it remained unclear for what exactly.
shinohai: diana_coman is invited to simply ignore my conversation then, what else can I say?
BingoBoingo: dorion: It isn't the worst outcome if the conversation takes a week through 5, 15, 30 minute a day pieces.
BingoBoingo: dorion: Generally the synchronous make an appointment thing, it's not the politest way to approach new to you folks for information. The committment to a synchronous conversation carries an implication of a more enduring committment than "Hey, I heard something happened. Do you want to talk about it?"
BingoBoingo: dorion: There's two major modes for using IRC, one is the syncrynous conversation mode simulating spoken conversation diana_coman has been pushing you into for good reasons. There's another asychronous mode where you post questions, take time to reflect on your answers to questions presented, etc, and everyone tolerates a delay in favor of greater precision.
asciilifeform: mats: it aint a dress rehearsal, like '17. 'this is not a drill!'(tm)(r).

BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I understand you have reservations about surrendering control, but that reflexive retreat to conversatism committed you to a position that will handicap your effort. If you had instead started from considered conditionals under which you'd consider taking investment to speed growth once they'd been hit, that could have demonstrated some learning from the pain.

snsabot: Logged on 2019-08-09 08:34:02 phf: asciilifeform: i'll genesis you the logger in the next two weeks. i'd rather you not waste time on it though. the design predates castles, so making it multichannel might be excessive amount of work. it's idiosyncratic, a product of the conversations from four years ago. your current approach seems a lot more solid.
