asciilifeform hopes to implement this spec in ada. but does not know when, realistically, would get a chance.
dulapbot: Logged on 2021-08-30 16:23:38 asciilifeform: signpost: 'time problem' in fact in past yr got ~substantially worse~ for asciilifeform
asciilifeform: thimbronion et al ^
asciilifeform would have liked to have released a cleaner, moar consistent, and bug-free version of this backbreaker. but would rather get this out now than spend another 2+mo..
asciilifeform must bbl.
thimbronion: asciilifeform: congrats on publishing this!
asciilifeform: why ty thimbronion
asciilifeform: it's a pretty full spittoon, imho, i encourage folx to take it slowly.
asciilifeform: thimbronion: anything in there surprised you ?
thimbronion: asciilifeform: let's just say that I will need to do a *lot* more work to get up to spec
thimbronion: many more fields in the packet than I was expecting
asciilifeform: thimbronion: lemme know when you had a chance to work through the material and whether you think the moving parts are justified.
thimbronion: asciilifeform: will do
asciilifeform: they're there to 1) solve the 'cocks problem' 2) support, in future, usenet-style threading.
dulapbot: Logged on 2021-07-05 11:32:28 punkman: there will be a lot of "i luv cocks"
asciilifeform: ( speaking here of 'SelfChain' and 'NetChain' . )
asciilifeform genuinely bbl, off to bed
signpost: hail satan. can't wait to read this over coffee tomorrow asciilifeform!
verisimilitude: I've read it once now, but I'll sleep on it before posting a comment. It was a fun read, partially expected and not, and I've already some suggestions and criticisms.
verisimilitude: How fun.
vex also hail satan

asciilifeform already found typos in 0xFF but will hold off on patching so other folx can nitpick.

asciilifeform ftr holds that www search oughta be a 100% p2p affair. i.e. i see a page evidently authored by somebody with a brain; hit ctrl-meta-whateverthefuck; and it gets indexed. and if someone in my l2 (l3?..) has a query, my box is happy to serve up result of said query
asciilifeform: ... the 'try to index entire planet' search engines not only suck, but -- more direly -- have irresistible incentive to suck. fuck'em with a thermal lance.

punkman: I'd say current crop of crawling/search software is quite miserable to use
asciilifeform: punkman: at one time i thought this, then realized that sites that dunwork w/ plain wget are just about 100% liquishit and not really needed for anyffin

asciilifeform: ACHTUNG, panzers! thimbronion , signpost , verisimilitude , et al : v. 0xFE.
asciilifeform: reworded, expanded things that needed to be expanded, cut verbosity where found possible to do so.
scoopbot: New post on Loper OS: "Pest" v. 0xFE.
thimbronion: asciilifeform: if I understand the spec properly, anything coming from a station is only to be associated with one identity? So we won't expect to be handling multiple nicks signed into a single station?
thimbronion: coming from = originating from and not something relayed
asciilifeform: thimbronion: multiple nicks can certainly emerge from a given station. they can be aliases defined on receiver's end via AKA and then will show up as 'immediate' message ;
asciilifeform: in any other case they will show up as a 'hearsay'.
asciilifeform: thimbronion: it is certainly possible to operate bots or guests through a station.
asciilifeform: so, to elaborate, if you have only 'asciilifeform' for me next to my wot key, but i switch my nick to 'bzzrpphft', you will see 'bzzrpphft(asciilifeform): foo...' when i speak, just as if bzzrpphft were a peer of mine but not of yours and were being relayed.
asciilifeform: (your station always knows that it was my station that sent the message -- because it was our shared key which verified the packet.)
asciilifeform: thimbronion: lemme know if this makes sense, if not i can give further example.
asciilifeform: and i also rec that thimbronion and erryone else throw out the 1st draft and work from 0xFE, it is imho much clearer.
asciilifeform must bbl
