crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-01-28#1117793 << I'm currently in the works of accquiring a number of back-to-back articles from a conference in '87, though I can't share for fear of copyright headhunters, it's an acquisition through a govt. library. I may later be able to accquire preprints that I can share.
dulapbot: Logged on 2026-01-28 20:51:15 phf: and then there's of course "NS: An Integrated Symbolic Design System" from yet another vlsi conference in '85
crtdaydreams: I have a bit more NS lore I'll share when I find the time
crtdaydreams: It can probably wait til I get the preprints
crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-01-28#1117795 << it's better than nothing, and ams is doing an excellent job chipping away at it
dulapbot: Logged on 2026-01-28 21:19:49 phf: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-01-21#1117672 << oh you should just forget all that. cadr predates security, and it is by design too, look at e.g. ITS lore. it's the big ball of mud design through and through. so of course writing to another process's repl, or manipulating its objects directly is acceptable practice
crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-01-28#1117797 << I have yet to bind all the cadet inputs (letalone find the time to figure out what would be optimal), would you have a usim config you could share?
dulapbot: Logged on 2026-01-28 21:21:39 phf: blasting keyboard input can only happen by accident, or as a harmless prank, and for those cases you have BREAK key
crtdaydreams: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2026-01-28#1117794 << would be very interested to hear from them, though not keen to be the break in anyones sabbatical
dulapbot: Logged on 2026-01-28 20:53:17 phf: i'm pretty sure both exist. or rather i have a copy of NS with ivory schematics. i know someone who had dpl/daedalus running on his cadr emulator. i'll follow up on that, the person in question is taking an extended break from computers
crtdaydreams: alf mentioned in the the old #trilema logs someone supposedly reimplemented NS in common lisp
crtdaydreams: I can confirm that was David Tan. He's currently CEO of Point & Click Solutions that run healthcare systems, I've got no leads to contact him though
crtdaydreams: also, the search function in asciilifeforms logs is broke
