snsabot: Logged on 2021-02-22 21:10:05 verisimilitude: In principle, it's possible, but at this point it's much easier to simply give everyone separate machines, which is basically an existence proof of the security.
asciilifeform: meanwhile, this lulzpiece reminded me of shinohai's shitcoinists
shinohai: ahahahahah asciilifeform pretty lulzy read, and is rather reminiscent of entire scene.
verisimilitude: I recommended that story in this article, which I really should update this year; I found it a nice piece of lovecraftian horror, but do occasionally look back and think about how insecure using a cell phone so would be for cryptocurrency management.
verisimilitude: It may have been the first Lovecraftian horror I'd ever read, so it had more of an effect on me than it otherwise perhaps would've.
trinque: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2021-02-22#1032245 << hahaha, like young boys telling their friends how exhausted they are from fucking hot baebs
snsabot: Logged on 2021-02-22 15:50:22 asciilifeform: in related lulz, http://gpl-violations.org : 'Please note that this homepage is not maintained very well. We're so busy in both technically and legally resolving GPL violations that there's hardly any time left to keep this page up-to-date.'
trinque: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2021-02-22#1032246 << it's the coherence of this "they" of which I'm a skeptic, not that the game's corrupt.
snsabot: Logged on 2021-02-22 16:40:01 verisimilitude: I'm reminded of when that TPP was the hot topic, and how it included a segment specifically attacking copyleft in all but name; that was a good example of how the rules simply change when they lose.
trinque: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2021-02-22#1032247 << again here, the implicit idea that there's a "they" that is in perfect control.
snsabot: Logged on 2021-02-22 16:40:55 verisimilitude: The appearance of law must be maintained, although that rioting shows it needn't be maintained when inconvenient.
trinque: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2021-02-22#1032252 << do you say that law is entirely impossible?
snsabot: Logged on 2021-02-22 17:17:28 asciilifeform: all of this discussion is applicable not merely to opensores licensism, but to whole concept of contractual agreements between unequal parties, and the nonsensical (yet very popular, and well-pushed) notion that the weaker can somehow ding the stronger via 'rule of law' in the workings of a supposed neutral judiciary
trinque: not this shitty place's law, but law in the proper sense.
trinque does not have a pointed point here, just mapping the ideological space
