gregoryn1ssa: I received this email just now. glad to see that Daniel Stenberg, the inventor of cURL, is advocating for wolfSSL as opposed to OpenSSL. however, this sentence reminded me of @asciilifeform's earlier remark concerning the surfeit of contributors:
gregoryn1ssa: "cURL... is the result of more than 2,200 named contributors"
gregoryn1ssa: after recreating sane versions of Ada, SSL, GPG ... I think cURL should perhaps merit some attention. it is an important tool.
shinohai: Your "first code contribution" likely being a code-of-conduct or running sed against the src to fix non-inclusive language.
gregoryn1ssa: shinohai: you don't say.. I once knew a person who would inflate his contribution-count on GitHub by helping others fix grammatical and spelling mistakes.
shinohai: It is pretty much the norm on Shithub these days. Rando messages you and say "Why don't you have a code of conduct in your repo? Terrorist!"
shinohai: "Racist! You still push to 'master' branches!"
trinque: gregorynyssa: I'd be very happy to use an in-wot, significantly decrufted curl.
trinque: or rewritten, depending on the state of it.
trinque: gregorynyssa: busybox also has a tiny wget, might be worthwhile to take a look and see how bad it is
asciilifeform: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-08-07#1018092 << lol!! does that thing contain '80% bug-ridden reimplementation of commonlisp'(tm)(r) by nao ?

asciilifeform: 'little fleas have smaller fleas, on their backs to bite'em...'
asciilifeform: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-08-07#1018091 << the pill for sslism aint 'xyz ssl', but 'just say NO'(tm)

asciilifeform: whaack: reminder -- your demo box is good through 15 aug.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-07-15 23:12:36 whaack: asciilifeform: connected, ty
asciilifeform: whaack: if yer satisfied w/ it and want moar, plox to subscribe on or prior to 15 aug.
asciilifeform: whaack: complete instructions here .
asciilifeform: whaack: preferred payment method is the trinquetron, if you have one.
asciilifeform: whaack: plox to read entire instruction sheet (it's 1 pg) and confirm that read, if subscribing.
asciilifeform: btw if anyone else ( shinohai ? iirc expressed interest ) is interested in leasing a similar box , i am considering purchasing several in near future.
asciilifeform: there is remaining amperage budget for 5 such machines.
asciilifeform: ( or 28 rk... )
asciilifeform presently has 18 rk units in stock.
billymg: asciilifeform: i'm interested in a rockchip w/ 128GB ssd. need to finally move my blog off anyserver and my bouncer off amazon. as i understand from the price calculator it'd be about $55 quarterly?
shinohai: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-08-07#1018132 <<< still want to get an apu2 "someday" ... scamdemic isn't doing me any favors earning coin to pay for it tho.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-08-07 13:44:00 asciilifeform: btw if anyone else ( shinohai ? iirc expressed interest ) is interested in leasing a similar box , i am considering purchasing several in near future.
asciilifeform: billymg: correct. plox to follow the linked instructions, if interested. normally can get you set up within 1d of req; but if you want specifically 128, i'ma have to order, currently have only 256 drives in stock ( +1d )
asciilifeform: billymg: lemme know which
asciilifeform: shinohai: i thought you were in 100% net-powered biz ?
asciilifeform: billymg: 256 is + ~10 $ / qt. over the 128 (see calc.)
shinohai: asciilifeform: is indeed, but shitcoin enthusiasts don't seem too interested in parting with dubloons when out of work. email has been crickets for weeks.
asciilifeform: shinohai: interesting. i wouldn't've thought these'd be folx starved by spamdemic (they work in restaurants?! or where..)
shinohai: I suppose, one coin guy I did work for no shit *delivered pizzas* as secular job. (Was also attending institute of higher dumbification)
asciilifeform: i thought plebefodder delivery were up +1000%..
shinohai: Would think, though locally almost all delivery services closed up shop, now have "curbside pickup" and naught else. (No dining indoors for > 10-15 folks at a time)
asciilifeform meanwhile still spammed w/ offers of work from all sorts of strange
asciilifeform: shinohai: what do the shitcoinists typically want to buy ?
shinohai: asciilifeform: Usually simple things like upgrading code to work with newer boost or ssl, pretty yawn-inducing things.
shinohai: Believe it or not, bitcointalk is prime place where scammers advertise these services, but take deposit and do nothing.
billymg: asciilifeform: sure, the 256 is fine. will send a pgp gram to officially request
asciilifeform: billymg: aite, ty
