whaack: asciilifeform: morning
whaack: problem with the atlantic ocean is that the waves are best during the winter
whaack: !e view-height
trbexplorer: block_height: 720057
trbexplorer: mins_since_last_block: 25
whaack: !e help
trbexplorer: whaack: my valid commands are: src, uptime, version, help, view-height, view-address, view-utxos, view-balance, view-block, view-raw-block, view-tx, view-raw-tx, push
whaack: trbexplorer still has yet to unwind an orphan
asciilifeform: wb whaack
asciilifeform: whaack: (possibly already in log but) didja ever get a chance to walk it over old blox?
whaack: asciilifeform: nope, there's a bit of work required to set this up and mock my current 'getblockfromtrb' function in order to run this test
whaack: so i opted for the 'careful coding' method where i wrote it out, slept, proofread a couple of times, and went straight live
whaack: trbexplorer currently only queries trb for new blox every 45s, so if the fork is resolved within a 45s window then trbexplorer will not know it ever happened, so possibly there have been some orphaned blocks
billymg: i snagged pestnet.io, the old bitdash url now redirects to it. i plan to treat it like therealbitcoin.org, in that i'm not thinking of it as my site but instead that i'm maintaining it on behalf of people working on pest. as such, if anyone has feedback/suggestions please let me know
asciilifeform: billymg: a++
billymg: i'll add jonsykkel's prototype soon too, along with any other working implementations people in here come up with
asciilifeform meanwhile made various (mostly minor) corrections to 0xfa draft.
asciilifeform: ( incl. addition of sect. 1.2.7, # of rephrasings in 1.2.9, and elsewhere )
asciilifeform: (the only structural change so far is that paddings are to be noise rather than zero.)
asciilifeform: fixed buncha broken links (sadly prolly not all, haven't atm a mechanical means of finding'em) also.
asciilifeform: signatures nao consistently referred to as seals.
whaack: billymg: btw logs.bitdash.io has some link still to join the channel on freenode, may wanna get rid of that
asciilifeform: clarified some of the text concerning chains, but that sect. still needs major massage.
whaack: i also snagged trbexplorer.com , it currently mirrors the raw explorer.ztkfg.com, but it will eventually be where i put the nice UI
billymg: whaack: ah, ty! i forgot about that
asciilifeform fixed sect. 2.2 to align with 5.
asciilifeform moves 'SLAVE' to 2.5.3. optional commands, and added 'PCUT'.
asciilifeform massaged 3.2.2 and 4.3.1, and elsewhere; stops for the day
asciilifeform: thimbronion, jonsykkel , et al : had possibly interesting idea for auto-resolution of forks. record the first l1 peer via whom you received a hearsay bearing that speaker. the chain of the fork received via that peer is to be considered genuine.
asciilifeform: applies (unless asciilifeform miscalculates) recursively, to enforce '1st user owns the handle' across the pestnet.
asciilifeform invites folx to come up w/ a counterexample, in which algo bombs
