snsabot: (asciilifeform) 2020-10-10 gregorynyssa: interesting fact: nearly every country is mentioned at least once in the logs of #trilema
adlai: bizarrely enough, they don't distinguish between the west bank of the jordan river and the gaza strip, and they list the "occupied palestinian territory" as middle east, while listing tsionistan as part of europe; although, nobody cares.
adlai: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-10-08#1022932 << s/name// and yes, the riots are happening; whether they are still due to that one straw, and not just the brokeback camel, is almost entirely irrelephant.

adlai: gregorynyssa: indeed, I found it good enough to be surprised when a friend said the book (supposedly, it is closely inspired by some fellow's autobiograph-ish novel of the same name) was crap
adlai: billymg: my first guess for weighting the monetary base is 'coin-days', or possibly 'coin-blocks', i.e. product of each unspent coin value and time (or blocks) since that unspent coin was created as a transaction output
adlai: as for weighing price data for the other multiplicant: this is much less obvious, since there is no price data in the chain itself, and even if a few specific exchanges publish their data, one must assume that they are not the entire picture
adlai: one approach is to disregard specific exchange prices and use one of the various indices, where the index price is weighted according to a metric of on-chain monetary velocity, such as the derivative of the 'coin-days' or 'coin-blocks' integral, or perhaps my favorite metric, miner income from tx fees
