Because otherwise... where did they get the human weapon! Goblins don't craft weapons.' << YES!
asciilifeform: ^^ mircea_popescu winz. ^^
mircea_popescu: shit i stepped away for a second and i got way behind
asciilifeform while mircea_popescu was out, was in the middle of finally writing the motherfucking broadcast but paused to post the mempool guillotine
asciilifeform: which has been up the sleeve for too long

asciilifeform: like, on live goats
mircea_popescu: poor goats.
asciilifeform: also ok to use live lusers
mircea_popescu: incidentally, it's quite obvious that the b-a conversations consist of both spoken and silent dialogue
mircea_popescu: or i should expect it;s obvious

mircea_popescu: talk to someone who's ever done any time. there's a ton of mexicans doing time in us prisons to make money for their family bacvk home.
asciilifeform: that's only +ev if $1/day is money somewhere you come from
mircea_popescu: actually i would guess currently the earned income this way is about 12-15kish a year.
mircea_popescu: liquid tho.
assbot: Logged on 04-05-2015 18:55:44; ascii_field: not even chumps, as such - many of these folks (i usedto work with'em) are laughing all the way to the bank, riding the thermodynamic waterfall between usd salary and cn cost of living

mircea_popescu: decimation they';re not capable of it. there's this very insistently nursed delusion among white useless usians that somehow some types of work are "below" them in the sense that OF COURSE they could do it. not so. alf has it : fuck you for "being able to" put the fries in the frier once. do it every day forever.
mircea_popescu: so no. they are not capable, of any kind of work.
mircea_popescu: not capable of intellectual work because not smart enough.
mircea_popescu: not capable of labour because not patient enough.
mircea_popescu: the only work they're capable of is reddit shitslinging, and there's a ton of dudes doin that cheaper and better already. easily 100x what's needed anyway.
mircea_popescu: also - programmer is not a craftsman. "programmer" is the boy equivalent of the "artsy" chick. one does stupid shit and "sells it" on etsy, the other does stupid shit and "sells it" on github
mircea_popescu: the difference is absolutely nil.
asciilifeform: again with reddit php == programming notion
mircea_popescu: this is what it is.
mircea_popescu: talk to a recent cs graduate.
gernika: mircea_popescu I thought all usians dipped fries in the frier as teens or college students at least. Do the younger ones not go through that anymore?
asciilifeform: does mircea_popescu need working komputermaschinen for anything?
TheNewDeal: manual labor is an option as well

asciilifeform: and the 'recent graduate' - straight to the furnace, yes
BingoBoingo: gernika: Not enough jobs to hire them all for it
asciilifeform: doesn't change what programming/medicine/bridge-building ~is~
mircea_popescu: gernika is it a patently retarded idea to buy "restaurant". a restaurant is not a box of candies. if you haven't spent a decade working in one, you have no business OWNING one.
asciilifeform: butbut want moneyz for having moneyz!
asciilifeform: like ted turner!
mircea_popescu: romanian fucktarded kids did this to death. went to work abroad - sucked septuagenarian cock on cruise ships, manned boats off alaska, whatever, came back with a 20-50-70k and then... OPENED A RESTAURANT

mircea_popescu: it's its own, special brand of compliment.
mircea_popescu: sorta like the situation of a spy, really - the enemy is willing to spend millions to nail him, whereas his own team has to be fought for a 10k allocation sort of deal.

mircea_popescu: something like that, but really this looks more like butthurt noob "with connections"

mircea_popescu: wait a second. you're not seriously trying to understand "what executives do" by reading bloggers' commentary on tv shows ?!

mircea_popescu: 1. take a complex situation C about which propositions may be formed Pi which are decidably correct or false through a T(Px) function.
mircea_popescu: 2. take a list L of actors Lj , who decide (D) on which P to rely, and are scored by function S(Lx), according to the impact of their reliance on false P (which is uncomputable at all points before running S)
mircea_popescu: 3. create a set S of twobitidiots Sk, who put forth statements Q about various P, so that the actual T(Q(Px)) is normally distributed over the list S.
mircea_popescu: in this model, the fact that Sy displays any score on the basis of his past emitted Q is no proof of anything.

asciilifeform: guessed as much.
ben_vulpes: so i am to expect that patches arriving in the ML aren't even tested now?
asciilifeform: it was tested!
asciilifeform: and correction was posted minutes later
asciilifeform: recall, flagship nodes were wedged
asciilifeform: was a very rushed thing.
ben_vulpes: "here's a fix"
ben_vulpes: "does it work?"
ben_vulpes: "let me see"
asciilifeform: see logz
asciilifeform: srsly, ben_vulpes managed to install the uncorrected patch in the minutes between it and the new one ??
ben_vulpes: plz for to slightly more detail in patchdescs.
decimation: oh I thought this was all about the stl map, not boost unordered map
asciilifeform: did not read logz?
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform he still has a point. a) we're careening dangerously towards -dev levels and b) people can't fucking follow wtf is on that list.
asciilifeform: just 'here's a patch, i'd better eat it'
ben_vulpes: started at ml, canonical information repository.
ben_vulpes: second patch contained a link to mp's "dis wat i do, yo"
ben_vulpes: so ofc i /try/ first patch
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: he does have a point. and normally i include some 'work of literature' with these
asciilifeform: but world was on fire.
mircea_popescu: you know world is on fire to that degree pretty much weekly.
ben_vulpes: not even a note in correction about "lol sry first patch doesn't work"
asciilifeform: eh no. my nodez ran from ignition until wedge day
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> was hoping, glass cannon fired. << Might never fire
mircea_popescu: so you're new.
asciilifeform: ben_vulpes: if there is every any symptom of folks reading the ml but not #b-a, it might be worth considering to use the ml as something other than a file dumping ground for #b-a
ben_vulpes: here's your indication!
asciilifeform: at any rate, ben_vulpes is invited to fill in the gap and write literature for this piece
asciilifeform: i gotta eat. brb
ben_vulpes: not that i'm not infinitely indebted to you for unwedging my coracle but a hint of context'd be useful.
mircea_popescu: the ml process needs some reviewing. it's sort of grown organically to a point where it's troublematic.
ben_vulpes: say it again.
mircea_popescu: for one thing, most everyone but us has a stable and a testing list.
mircea_popescu: i can appreciate the heroism of "fuck you, it's all stable". but then that comes at a cost.
mircea_popescu: the more common cop out is "fuck you, it's all testing".
mircea_popescu: that stance may come with a cost to the ego.
