FabianB_: yay, mpex stat works again :D
mircea_popescu: sorry for teh delay. the problem with this sort of shit is once the slightest not-working-as-expected thing pops swaths of things have to now be checked
mircea_popescu: even if you know why and what happened, or at any rate think so.
FabianB_: np for ppl here having some kind of updates i guess
mircea_popescu: to be honest irc is the best news channel i've ever seen
FabianB_: wondering how users not hanging around here see things
FabianB_: indeed, irc has always been best
mircea_popescu: well... inasmuch as not hanging around is a choice...
mircea_popescu: i would imagine they see them in the log or don't care or something tailored to personal taste
FabianB_: yeah, i wouldn't trade on mpex without being here or checking logs once in a while
mircea_popescu: anyway, it wasn't an attack of any sort or even related to outside influence. it was a problem stemming from the too stringent checking imposed on proxy synchronization after the last adventure, which in an edge case put everything in a paranoid state.
mircea_popescu: shouldn't happen again, at least not in exactly the same way.
FabianB_: mircea_popescu: can you disclose info on whether there was one (or 1% of users) that could still trade?
mircea_popescu: anyone had a maybe 1 in >1k tries chance to trade
mircea_popescu: kinda hard to calculate the >1k exactly
FabianB_: ah, that's y, so probably bots that tried continueously made those rare trades
mircea_popescu: i think so
ThickAsThieves: so it wasnt the fake volume bot?
mircea_popescu: ironically, actual orders had somewhat better chances to get through than stats i think
mircea_popescu: ThickAsThieves or that, yeah.
