d4: It is unclear to me how vdiff always generetes diffs between directory a and b. Isn't this automated by v with something like ``veh commit''?
asciilifeform: d4: vdiff is a slightly doctored output of diff -uNr a b
asciilifeform: (at least, in asciilifeform's original vtron; much later, folx baked a new one w/ compat. output but such that doesn't choke on e.g. '---' present in inputs & similar headaches cured )
asciilifeform: d4: 'commit' term has no meaning in classical vtronics ftr.
asciilifeform: (a fundamental idea behind vtron is that no command to it modifies the input files; tho 'press' generates a new dir which corresponds deterministically to the chosen patch/seals inputs)
d4: You are right, "commit" is just what I'm used to. If I understood this correctly, in the context of v, it should be something like (1) veh diff <base_patch> <diff_name> (2) sign the patch (3) verify that the new patch can be pressed. I would automate the first step (see ossasepia's workflow) as it may be error prone, in my opinion.
