asciilifeform: meanwhile ( shinohai & other prospective users ) : after ungodly delay in components shipments, the apu3 box is nao available. catalogue has been updated to include it.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-03-09 20:06:21 asciilifeform: shinohai: i have a 'apu3' unit coming in ~2wks, if yer interested.

Apocalyptic: asciilifeform: do you have a link for specs re apu3 ? the log isn't helpful in that regard
trinque: Apocalyptic: appears to be this guy https://www.pcengines.ch/apu3c4.htm
trinque: decent little box imho. I've got a predecessor sitting right next to me routing bits.
Apocalyptic: trinque: ty
asciilifeform: ty trinque . that's the vendor pg for the box, aha
asciilifeform: my only complaint w/ apu2/apu3 is that sageprobe dunwork with'em . but afaik otherwise identical to apu1.
asciilifeform: trb noad 205.134.172.27 is a apu1 .
asciilifeform: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-04-15#1010243 << believe or not, i used a similar tool in late 1990s, for deriving hardcoded-constant optimal multiplies for pic16f84 micro. was even a public www thing (!) , someone baked in perl. sadly vanished , afaik, w/out a trace.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-04-15 21:32:57 Apocalyptic: interesting experiment
verisimilitude: I've also come across that experiment, and it spurred me to write a similar article I otherwise wouldn't've, but I was ultimately unimpressed with the approach used.
asciilifeform: imho gratuitously complex.
verisimilitude: If the machine can't do something in one instruction, a human can review this, but if a solution in two is found, this provides a nice upper bound. Similarly, if a three-instruction sequence is written, that's not proof a pair of instructions wouldn't suffice, but it's not necessarily even important.
verisimilitude: That's also the impression it gave me, asciilifeform; he played with a slow toy that ate all of his memory and which apparently he didn't fully understand.
snsabot: (trilema) 2018-11-29 asciilifeform: zx2c4: point being, i don't practice haskellism. and nit from being illiterate yokel who has nfi how. it so happens that i know how. but consider the whole approach to be braindamaged .
