shinohai: Common Lisp Style Document <<< ftfy
verisimilitude: I appreciate it, shinohai; I suspected it was double square brackets, but didn't want to continue guessing.
shinohai: lol
verisimilitude: I've had the misfortune of using markdown before and, while suspecting this, decided to try what I did, instead.
shinohai: It does kinda make sense a Lisper would put things in parentheses ^.^
verisimilitude: Now, I'm not so well-acquainted with you, shinohai; where's your website?
shinohai: Mine is http://btc.info.gf/
verisimilitude: Alright; I've not visited this before; your index page is missing its doctype and an ampersand hasn't been escaped properly.
shinohai: Yeah I need to polish the index, mainly got thrown up there when I was migrating from old hosting. (The mastadon thing turned out failed experiment)
verisimilitude: I've not joined the fediverse out of sloth; I'd need to host it myself, but I'm to understand that's a bother; I just use Finger instead.
verisimilitude: Oh, I've read your blog before, but never visited the prime index, I notice.
verisimilitude: You've no comment system, but I'll still give some thoughts on select articles; should I privately send them or is submitting them in this channel fine?
verisimilitude: Nevermind, I'll submit them inline.
verisimilitude: Also, regarding other earlier discussion, Tor is fine to use so long as one wants to make himself harder to track; trusting Tor only is foolhardy, however; it would be best to use Tor along with other privacy methods, if one's truly doing something that could have himself imprisoned or killed.
shinohai: Whatever you prefer verisimilitude, re: comments. I was working on comment system for bot (requiring gpg sigs) but never really bothered with comment section for whatever reason xD
verisimilitude: You could do what I lazily do and let people email you, manually entering them.
verisimilitude: Using Tor to prevent ISPs and server operators from knowing where you live is useful, regardless of whether this protects against a governmental entity. It's gratis, unlike other systems, also.
shinohai: I've tried to take the "no js or php" approach to blog, though if I found simple comment system that works without 5 bzillion lines of php, would use.
verisimilitude: In my case, I just don't want to configure the HTTP server at all.
verisimilitude: Without disrespect, I've freshly read several of your articles now and I don't have much to comment, sans there's a wider variety of topics than I cover on mine and that the programming topics are reasonably interesting, from those I've viewed. More Common Lisp or Ada work from you would be interesting.
verisimilitude: As it stands, you've not done much of either two, it seems.
shinohai: I only started Lisp journey ~4 years ago, Ada much more recent, my only experience there learning as I go with asciilifeform 's ffa.
shinohai: You're correct though, I should take more time to write upon lisp subjects, I have so many scattered notes.

shinohai: lol now Hoaxtoshi appears to be making argument that he "owns the blockchain database" and that BTC is stealing from by mining blox on "his" chain.
asciilifeform: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-02-16#1006758 << hey verisimilitude, ever read the log ?!
snsabot: Logged on 2020-02-16 00:48:18 verisimilitude: Also, regarding other earlier discussion, Tor is fine to use so long as one wants to make himself harder to track; trusting Tor only is foolhardy, however; it would be best to use Tor along with other privacy methods, if one's truly doing something that could have himself imprisoned or killed.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-02-13 00:21:38 asciilifeform: (notice, ~100% of the high-profile 'tor will keep me outta jail' folx, are in nao )
snsabot: Logged on 2020-02-13 00:22:49 asciilifeform: this, + the fact that 'tor society' is funded 100% by usg from day 1, oughta be enuff argument, even for a non-technical person who has nfi re the internal mechanisms
snsabot: Logged on 2020-02-12 23:48:40 asciilifeform: superkuh: you don't even need 'eye of sauron'. at one time i personally was logging %% of tor exit traffic. for lulz.
asciilifeform: how the fuck does using a known honeypot 'make harder to track' ? and what exactly 'other privacy methods' ??
superkuh: I don't know about privacy, but I like that it is easy for me to control the total bandwidth coming in to my tor address and that I own my domain on the system. These attributes are enough to make it useful, and it's how I use it. Not to hide.
asciilifeform: superkuh: is 'namecoin' , i wonder, still around ? might be a moar hygienic way of doing what you want there.
superkuh: I was big into namecoin back when it started.
superkuh: These days I don't bother. And I've heard (but have no way to confirm) that even with merged mining basically namecoin is 70% mined by one entity these days.
asciilifeform: mp wanted 'kill dns!!' but his proposed replacement turned out to be 'same thing, w/ mp on throne' so meh
superkuh: Although with torv3 domains at some point it's easier to just remember an ipv4 address.
asciilifeform: imho it really aint hard to remember a ip
asciilifeform: superkuh: maybe, if folx actually used namecoin, instead of screwing w/ usg.tor -- it'd still be alive..
superkuh: I did until 2 years ago.
superkuh: superkuh.bit is probably still pointing at my old ip.
asciilifeform: why stopped ?
asciilifeform bbl
superkuh: Not many .bit resolvers and I was always using some random sketchy dude's one.
superkuh: Plus it was pretty lonely.
superkuh: I only have the full bitcoin blockchain on one computer.

asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: and, didja in fact find so many designated victims , that bot is needed ?!
asciilifeform back from cage, in which there is nao yet another trb noad.

asciilifeform: mod6: atm this is still a copy of zoolag's build, rather than your cutting edge
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: The part people write with frequency is the part I actually need least. Discovering comment boxes is actually the bigger drag on my time right now than authoring comments.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i suspect yer gonna have to bake it w/ own hands
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Well, I've got something resembling pseudocode now.
asciilifeform: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-02-15#1006738 << it appears that they.. do. also coupla 'loud an' proud' ukrs in there, apparently.

thimbronion: May they get it!
asciilifeform: thimbronion: they got it, 'long and hard', in '90s, apparently some folx not eaten enuff just yet
asciilifeform: the funniest bit is that several of these orcs-in-exile apparently read my www. and hence 'consensus' was, asciilifeform 1) worx for, and in, moscow 2) killed an' ate 'author of loper-os'
thimbronion: That is funny given the similar conclusions reached here about Orlov, et. al.
asciilifeform: i dunno whether ever before seen quite this degree of schizo, from folx who seemed readable on casual examination
asciilifeform: thimbronion: i managed to achieve this 'result' w/ said audience, tho, w/out even 'heiling putler', interestingly.
asciilifeform: d00dz were fapping to 'rule of law', so i linked'em to the canonical likbez. this proved too large a stone to swallow .
thimbronion: Is Bitcoin, too, a putler op?
asciilifeform: thimbronion: according to at least 1 fella -- indeed !
thimbronion: lol
asciilifeform: 'to destabilize europe'
asciilifeform: incorrigible 'tor' aficionados, too. poor buggers.
thimbronion: Well I am surprised.
thimbronion: Perhaps all they need is to spend some time in the democratic miracle of Baltimore. Although you said one was in Brazil so...
asciilifeform: thread in the end was reminiscent of the time described by mp, when he showed up in some heathen pit, and was told 'how dare you impersonate mp, we know very well the real one, he wouldn't be caught dead coming here'
asciilifeform: the lengths to which some folx will go to avoid thinking -- are astonishing.
asciilifeform: prolly oughta leave the maffs profs -- alone. medicine -- powerless.
BingoBoingo: thimbronion: Not all of Brazil is favela. Rio Grande Do Sul reportedly is what Argentina and Uruguay merket themselves as, but since Portuguese is the language everyone talks faggy.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I don't see why leave alone. Molest them on your blog presenting the possibility Obamaland and Putleristan both suck, then link in the convo.
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> i dunno whether ever before seen quite this degree of schizo, from folx who seemed readable on casual examination << It is incredibly common
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> thimbronion: according to at least 1 fella -- indeed ! << In the past three weeks I've encountered 6 cranks, non particularly active on either issue hyping "The Bitcoin Scam" with the six positing among them 4 different CIA agents that happenen to be jews with economics and math hobbies as Satoshi.
BingoBoingo: One of the six had a working comment box.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i had in fact moar productive debates than this, with creationists. in 90s.
asciilifeform: if there indeed are educable folx hiding somewhere, i've nfi where. must be laying low on fucking alpha centauri.
asciilifeform: one interesting detail is that these folx 'heil clitler' but somehow at same time despise 'sjw' ( it also ploy of putler ? )
verisimilitude: I've been lazily reading this channel's fresh logs, asciilifeform, and I was disagreeing with them.
verisimilitude: I send rather all of my WWW browsing traffic through Tor with the Tor Browser, and this is just fine. It's a matter of I'd prefer it be rather private, but it's not damning if it later turns out not to be; I don't lose in this scenario.
