BingoBoingo: shinohai: ty, changed the source to http://archive.is/Qk59V and trimmed it a bit. The original source had some awfully broken English http://archive.is/3m7b3
BingoBoingo: It is however a nice hit to the Eier on the Germans.
BingoBoingo: Welcome thimbronion
BingoBoingo: I've got a comment waiting in your moderation hopper
thimbronion: Thanks. Approved. Will reply later. Would this possibly be a good story to cover for a qntra piece? https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Berkeley-Law-School-Drops-Boalt-Name-Over-Racist-15016285.php?
shinohai: Welcome thimbronion ... thinking about writing for Qntra?
BingoBoingo: thimbronion: It could be. The "remove racist's name" thing is so incredibly common that it isn't really news on its own. It could be newsy if you can hook into into something else with a bit more punch.
shinohai: Nice!
BingoBoingo: thimbronion: One possibility is whether the pichis and urban campers have already overrun the Berkely campus, but they are instead derping on the racism thing.
BingoBoingo ignorant of Berkley's situation on this front.
thimbronion: Well, the thing that strikes me about the piece is that apparantly Boalt was a proponent of the chinese exclusion act, yet the story fails to mention the percentage of UCB students that are in fact chinese.
BingoBoingo: thimbronion: That also could be a hook.
BingoBoingo: How many of them are Chinese?
thimbronion: 17% of fall enrollment are Chinese vs. 21% white.
BingoBoingo: Ethnic Chinese or Chinese nationals?
BingoBoingo: Interesting
thimbronion: Grad programs in specific areas I think would have very interesting numbers.
BingoBoingo: Well, the US university system does this thing where they export this service of storing a certain type of young chinese adult.
BingoBoingo: shinohai: ty
BingoBoingo: shinohai: Nice, tight text.
shinohai: ty! ^.^
BingoBoingo: Only addition was inserting "seem to have", because Mandarin is weird
BingoBoingo: No cuts, no other changes
shinohai: There should be new contest, that actually brought in some tardstalk peeps.
shinohai: *Qntest
BingoBoingo: shinohai: That's an idea. I'll give it some thought. May be one of those things that waits a bit.
shinohai: (Perhaps a best article contest of some sort?)
BingoBoingo: But right now, spreading ought to take priority to baiting. Folks seeing a contest are probably not going to be inclined to drive potential competition to the contest.
shinohai: nb, good points
BingoBoingo: shinohai: I'm not opposed to spending to help break the stasis, but I'm more interested in long term growth/regrowth. Something bursty like a contest may offer better return down the road a bit.
shinohai: I'm trying to think of ideas to assist breaking said stasis. I mean, just on it's own Qntra offers best financial incentive out there already (aside accepting bribes from Calvin Ayre to write about the glory of BitcoinSV)
BingoBoingo: shinohai: I've started commenting on blogs
shinohai: Neato BingoBoingo ... how goes the process? (I caught a little of it in the #trilema-hanbot logs)
BingoBoingo: shinohai: It's not been fast yet. working on getting a flow going.
