PeterL: bingoboingo: did you ever figure out what was going on with pingbacks and why they are not going out?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: disks arrived today. 4 envelopes, 1 -- empty. will add to photo shoot.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Very interesting
BingoBoingo: Were they all opened?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: the diskless 1 looks to have been carefully opened. the others -- devil knows, maybe opened & resealed with some care, maybe virginal
asciilifeform: i haven't opened any yet, photoing at first as-is
BingoBoingo: I wetted the adhesive before applying the tape for extra holding power. If the glue isn't attached, it was opened in transit.
BingoBoingo: Or the "Industria Argentina" label that should have come with the envelopes was missing
asciilifeform: will look.
asciilifeform: there's a tremendous qty of stamps on'em, possibly label is under a stamp
BingoBoingo: Well, envelopes came in a plastic wrapping at the local kiosko
BingoBoingo: Last I saw them the local correo only put a small narrow stamp with the tracking number. Everything else applied later
asciilifeform: contents of 3 envelopes fully match what appares in BingoBoingo's photoset.
asciilifeform: the missing disk is #2 .
asciilifeform: photographed all envelopes & their contents.
asciilifeform: also apparently argentard envelopes release impressive dust clouds when you cut'em.
BingoBoingo: PeterL: Not yet, I suspect I am going to have to recompile apache, php, or both to get a missing extension
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: The dust is interesting. Is it the wood pulp or does it seems to be something else?
asciilifeform: loox like wood pulp. just like crappy old sovok envelopes.
BingoBoingo: Ah
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: took the pics, will post later today, atm hands full.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Aite
BingoBoingo: 5 unused seals have been located, a bit late, but found.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: these were never on piz books, they're yours to do what you like.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Aite, I'll keep them around
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: keep in mind that they're not particularly good seals, when w/out e.g. nail polish.
asciilifeform: any moron can print similar-looking seal in coupla min (or simply buy a big enuff roll where the #s roll over.)
BingoBoingo: It's difficult for me to evaluate how much of an enhancement the nail polish was. It increased the sensitivity of the seals for sure. This is great for sealing things in place. With respect to things being shipped or moved, the enhanced version seems to have a greater potential for false positives
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: tbf i did not seal'em for movement.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: This is true.
mod6: BingoBoingo: Can you do me a favor too, can you pop open the Foundation's server and check and see if it has a FG in there?
mod6: thx, bbl
BingoBoingo: mod6: Already opened. None seen inside.
mod6: Thanks, cool then. Just wanted to be sure.
BingoBoingo: mod6: With asciilifeform receiving the dulap disks, I now feel comfortable asking. Do you want the foundation's disks mailed, or do you want to wait and see if asciilifeform is taking a pickup trip down here.
mod6: Yeah, let's wait and see. I've got the data, thanks to your gathering things up and PGP'ing them to me. If disks are getting lost, it might be better to wait and see if there is a pick up trip, or if not, destruction by fire.
BingoBoingo: mod6: Well, in the local urbanity, hammering into sand is more feasible.
mod6: No blow torches 'eh?
BingoBoingo: mod6: Smell and fumes are a concern
mod6: Fair enough, I'll leave that up to you.
