awt[asciilifeform|billymg]: hm pretty snappy that time
asciilifeform loox fwd to vanishment of peering headaches
shinohai[asciilifeform]: So far, billymg only person I can't peer with for the life of me.
signpost[asciilifeform]: same thing I'm seeing with deedbot still, intermittent or slow responses sometimes, snappy others.
signpost[asciilifeform] wanted to intentionally begin relying upon blatta to surface these.
signpost[asciilifeform]: !!help
signpost[asciilifeform]: just replied instantaneously in private message.
awt[asciilifeform|billymg]: pestbot: ping
signpost[asciilifeform]: perhaps what I've got is a weird interaction between deedbot and blatta.
signpost[asciilifeform]: each side of the socket waiting for the other to say something? will have to dig deeper soon.
shinohai[asciilifeform]: !!help
shinohai[asciilifeform]: $uptime
busybot[asciilifeform]: The bot has been up for: 46 days 23 hours 30 minutes and 31 seconds
shinohai[asciilifeform]: Best uptime I've ever had on this bot, literally have not even logged into the server it runs on since I started it.
asciilifeform: billymg: when you have a chance, can plz make http://logs.bitdash.io/static/log_db.gz live ?
billymg: asciilifeform: will do
billymg: working on getting the new search live now
asciilifeform: ty billymg
billymg: it's taking forever to populate the tokenzied column on the rk. takes about 20 minutes on my laptop
billymg: asciilifeform: any eta on the dulap yet?
asciilifeform: billymg: crate came in this morning! 3 of'em. still need to fire up & test
asciilifeform: disks etc. ready
billymg: nice
asciilifeform annoyed re seller collecting shipping charge for each but stuffing'em all into 1 crate, backbreaker
billymg: yeah, they're damn heavy (1U server)
asciilifeform: the vendor's rails have become impossible to get, will prolly need to use shelves from nao on
asciilifeform: awt: was thinking about a hypothetical blatta mod for emplacing e.g. a n00b gate in place of dulapnet;
asciilifeform: awt: would allow >1 irc connection (w/ the old login/pw), prohibit pest commands other than from op, and relay all irc traffic as if were hearsay from l2
asciilifeform: peers would see e.g. asciilifeform[dulapnet]: foo etc.
asciilifeform: the tricky bit is that would need to relay msgs as hearsay w/ the appropriate nicks.
asciilifeform: (rather than the way pestron normally operates, where all msgs from irc encode as immediates)
asciilifeform: sorta inverse of 'slave mode'.
asciilifeform would attempt to implement, but imho oughta wait for sect. 5 support, maintaining 'at' on that thing would be a 1st class bitch currently imho
asciilifeform: not necessarily to be used only on dulapnet, other folx could easily operate n00b doors w/ subj
asciilifeform: 'op' there oughta be imho simply a hardcoded seekrit login/pw pair, req'd to connect from localhost; rather than the traditional irc concept
asciilifeform: ( simply to set peers/keys for the thing )
asciilifeform: support for indiv. irc logins imho optional, dulapnet got on ok w/out it; for gagging, can use 'GAG' as req'd
asciilifeform realizes that there's anuther gnarly issue hidden in this sketch -- folx speaking through the gate will appear as selfchain forks on regular pestnet
asciilifeform: (those who are there, naturally)
asciilifeform: ( same issue btw would apply to phf's idea as i understand )
asciilifeform: 1 simple if ugly workaround would be to autoprefix nicks there, e.g. dulapnet_asciilifeform .
asciilifeform: ( and maintain selfchains locally )
billymg: !. uptime
bitbot: billymg: time since my last reconnect : 42d 6h 49m
billymg: neat
billymg: i just dropped the db and did a full restore (took several minutes), bot still connected
billymg: didn't accomplish what i wanted to though because "pg_restore: [archiver] unsupported version (1.14) in file header"
billymg: i got tired of waiting for the rk to finish populating the text search column so i figured i'd dump the db, run the text search indexer locally to populate the column, then restore on the server
billymg: but version mismatch, so nodice
billymg: i'm gonna run the indexer on the server i guess, hopefully it'll finish by tomorrow morning
billymg: i guess this alone wouldn't cause any issues for the bot, so long as no new lines come in, but also restarted postgres before doing the drop/restore just to flush everything out
