awt[asciilifeform]: PyCharm run configurations are pretty cool. Very convenient for launching a testnet and then attaching to one process to debug.
awt[billymg|asciilifeform]: Connecting remotely is still kinda buggy.
signpost[asciilifeform]: indeed. the test-runner in there is also outstanding.
signpost[billymg|asciilifeform]: nice to have a split-screen going where code edits rerun your tests for you.
awt[asciilifeform|billymg]: signpost: I messed with the test runner a bit. Works pretty well. Will look into setting up automatic reruns.
billymg: finally got trb to build on my 2022 musl gentoo, using jfw's system compiler method with some minor patches for issues i bumped into. full writeup coming soon
shinohai[asciilifeform|billymg]: neato billymg will read
signpost[asciilifeform|billymg]: in my own adventures on pentacle, got the vpatches separated out today. http://paste.deedbot.org/?id=feQp
signpost[asciilifeform]: I took care to separate the original src vs fixes, and provided sha256 of src origins where there was a canonical artifact released from "upstream"
signpost[asciilifeform]: for example: 720778 signpost automake_1_15_1 Genesis derived from automake-1.15.1.tar.gz (sha256: 988e32527abe052307d21c8ca000aa238b914df363a617e38f4fb89f5abf6260)
signpost[asciilifeform]: kinda mindboggling eh? 1.1gb of *text* for the kernel
signpost[asciilifeform|billymg]: curious what mass of that is drivers, as I'd like to do a full readthrough at some point. gcc as well.
signpost[asciilifeform|billymg]: looking at it all, it does make one want to get sbcl to bootstrap with tcc frankly, but I'm not eager to reinvent userland utils any time soon.
signpost[asciilifeform|billymg]: iirc there were kernel experiments with tcc, but I imagine by now that'd incur a bunch of porting w/e gcc-10000.0 extensions they've started using, or lose access to more recent drivers.
signpost[asciilifeform|billymg]: at any rate, this pig saddle's shaping up.
