whaack: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-07-13#1016194 (and responding to jurov) Alright, from the thread it looked like there was a potential question as to whether bitcoin had some txn that were born out of no where. But from my understanding the txn data is redundant, so although bitcoind on some nodes may say "I dun got that txn" (cuz it got erroenously wiped from the tx index when a

asciilifeform: whaack: you've discovered what may well be the most riotously idiotic 'feature' of orig. client -- 'tx replacement'.
asciilifeform: and yes the old one remains somewhere in blocks 1 ... N-1 (where N is where 'replaced') .
asciilifeform: trb does not monkey with old blk****. doesn't remove 'not longest' chains, either, they're still there (hence blk*** not guaranteed identical across machines.)
asciilifeform: and yes this means that tx hash is ~not~ a unique index of tx in classical trb.
