Vexual: here i'm shaping wings
verisimilitude: I'll also answer your survey, billymg.
verisimilitude: I've recently finished a presentable version of my SHA Common Lisp library; it works, although it's still under review and I'll be fixing or adding things, but the prime issue is that it's far too slow for reasonable use, but I'm looking into optimization considerations.
verisimilitude: There we are; I'll collect my 0.005 BTC later.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-04-16 13:34:52 asciilifeform: spyked: canhaz http://thimbron.com/feed/ added to my feed ? ty
spyked: http://logs.nosuchlabs.com/log/asciilifeform/2020-04-16#1010296 <-- I s'ppose; yesterday I found it stuck in a cl exception, dunno wtf. I'd sit and debug, only the issue is reproducible once per month on average.
snsabot: Logged on 2020-04-16 12:40:29 asciilifeform: spyked: no worries. i wonder, tho, does that bot not know how to reconnect ? what's it made of ?
spyked: asciilifeform: re apu3, I'm curious, why did you choose the 3 specifically? and not apu4 or 1 (on account on 2+ being infected with pspisms, at least afaik)
snsabot: Logged on 2020-04-15 22:16:57 asciilifeform: my only complaint w/ apu2/apu3 is that sageprobe dunwork with'em . but afaik otherwise identical to apu1.
asciilifeform: spyked: '3' is same chipset as '2' and '4'. as to wai not '1', i have an apu1 going as a noad, and it has (non-catastrophic, but annoying) hardware bugs on acct of which i did not offer apu1's to customers
asciilifeform: spyked: spyked: specifically -- sata controller resets frequently (apparently w/out data loss tho, but clutters the machine log) ; and nic won't enter GB mode.
asciilifeform: spyked: these appear to be fixed starting w/ '2' . as for psp, naturally customer takes box at own risk. and apu2,3,4 still work w/ coreboot . afaik only the debugger dun work.
asciilifeform: as for why i'm offering a '3' -- i came across one for sale, and bought it. the pcengines boxen have become very difficult to buy (ludicrous delays from the orig manufacturer in europistan) and so i pick'em up whenever there is a chance.
spyked: asciilifeform, aha, thanks. was looking to procure some units for myself and apparently apu1 is harder to find than the newer ones nowadays
asciilifeform: spyked: get '1' if you can, and dun care about physical compactness -- it worx 100% if you use an actual sata drive (and larger case, it won't sit down in the standard one)
asciilifeform: the problem i observed happens when 'msata' card is in use
asciilifeform: iirc spyked is in europistan. oughta be able to get from orig. vendor.
spyked: asciilifeform, sorta. swiss export/environment taxes still apply to some (non-schengen i suppose?) countries. there are some eu resellers that make it easier though
asciilifeform: spyked: it's pretty cheap to begin with tho. keep in mind that if you buy raw board to put in own e.g. 1u case, will need the aluminum heat sink shim, the cpu is on bottom side.
asciilifeform: annoyingly, there are no mounting holes for anyffin resembling standard heat sinks.
asciilifeform: afaik the thing was very much intended to be used in the vendor's 'pancake' case.
spyked: yeah, I noticed that they have a whole "accessories" thing going
asciilifeform: i've used'em in off-the-shelf 1u cases, but needed the shim (and drilled holes for the m3 pegs, naturally it aint a standard miniatx or any other)
asciilifeform: it eats 12v.
