KRS-One: i say theres much more to it than that, was going to suggest a threaded C program..but im not sure we would need so many ip addresses instead of a well known email host
KRS-One: maybe throttle the submissions a bit..idk.. any input

jurov: random_cat, theo : one referral number to MPEx is there in plain sight: http://explo.yt/post/2014/01/13/MPEx%3A-The-Missing-Manual
assbot: [HAVELOCK] [B.EXCH] 1 @ 0.19376446 BTC [+]
theo: yeh i have already seen that site with the referall and manuals. Tis what got me more interested in MPEX Though i am not sure that they really offer anything i would invest into other then the derivatives scheme they offer as a baseline
jurov: well, for example both S.NSA and S.MG are making solid progress and are expected to ship imminently
jurov: but i don't know, what you want exactly?
theo: The only thing is that the profits from the website itself would have to be more then the 25 BTC i Invest and the additional funds i would invest after the origional down payment
jurov: during what timespan?
theo: Well currently i am quiet happy with havelock the only thing is that they don't have a large selection to choose from, well at least a large selection i believe could do well as buisness
theo: in the end i am a mid-long term investment. Dont usually have time for short term trading as i have a family
jurov: if you are sure havelock will be there mid-long term...then stay there
theo: What are your thought's? do you think they will?
jurov: imo they are going to end up like glbse/bf/btct, if a bit slower
theo: alright
theo: why is that?
theo: they have SFI which to me was a big thumbs up in my mind a IPO that raised 2 million
jurov: it's clear at least once cavirtex did what they did
theo: and that has 3 companies being mentioned in mass media
kakobrekla: because investing is all about mass media!
jurov: and name me some stocks there that have detailed monthly reports and clear signed agreements like mpex carries
theo: herpa derp, no it has little to do with mass media... But what i was implying is that if a incubator company that has 3 of there companies being mentioned in media a) it will do well. and b) in my mind it makes me think that there may be some more creedence to the website
theo: Honestly i can't hence why i am asking for advice and your opinions about such things
jurov: did you invest into doge, then? it has mass media powers
theo: CBTC seem pretty up front providing reports bi-monthly
theo: no i never did
theo: and never would thats a different type of investing
jurov: yes, that's one.
theo: there are only 3 companies i invest in there
theo: and the only 3 i have are the ones that seem to be transperent and have good communication.
theo: CBTC, RENT and SFI
kakobrekla: CBTC does monthly statements?
kakobrekla: that might explain "CasinoBitcoin is trading at 27 years of profits"
theo: bi-monthly they update the google doc
ozbot: CasinoBitco.in - Public
theo: https://www.havelockinvestments.com/reports.php updated each month by there company
theo: So right now it seems more like your making fun of my questions and what i think then providing any reasoning other then MPEX has been there ages and you should use my company to trade on it for my profit. Seriously great IRC.
jurov: theo can you pinpoint where i'm mocking you?
theo: <jurov> did you invest into doge, then? it has mass media powers\
theo: that to me is a jab at me, and many would take it as such
jurov: it was my honest opinion, you asked for
theo: I didn't ask about mass media or about dodge.
jurov: ...
theo: I asked about your opinion on mpex and havelock.
jurov: and you reasoned by mass media coverage
jurov: i took that almost as joke
jurov: and replied accordingly
theo: I didn't use that as any reasoning idiot read back
theo: I used the IPO of SFI as reasoning and side noted that there companies had recieved mass media.
theo: That is not reasoning. it was a side note
jurov: so it's your side noted against my "jabs" then
theo: Yawn. I came on here looking for good info and maybe a nice convo, all your providing is arguments and yes you did make a "jab" Now we are arguing semantics for no reason. I asked your's / anyone elses advice on havelock and MPEX and all i got was a hey you should use my company as thats a hefty fee
theo: now your being a real dick so putting a great vibe out for your company thanks for making sure i tell everyone never to use yours :)
jurov: no need to hyperventilate
theo: how does one hyperventilate on the internet?
kakobrekla: we are not here to convince you into anything
theo: I didn't say you were, i just thought people would actually be nice and maybe give advice instead of being dicks

kakobrekla: o look its herby
kakobrekla: no free advice when it comes to money
theo: Actually there is a lot, no good advice is free usually
jurov: what kind of advice did you want? i say, mass media is irrelevant when coming to btc investment, you call me idiot
jurov: just because i said it in funny way
theo: Really it is irreleveant? how about go look at the company who made BTCtrader performed on the stock market the day they announced there beta ended? or how about the casino company who announced they were making a exchange? both stocks went up by 5-10% in a single day thats called mass media arround BTC affecting the world
theo: And furthering that Mass media is what has driven bitcoin to the point it is. If reddit hadn't started accepting it when they did i betchya we would not be at this point yet
assbot: [MPEX] [S.MPOE] 11900 @ 0.00086125 = 10.2489 BTC [-]
jurov: but you said you're in for medium to long term.. or was it a side nmote,, too?
theo: semantics again.
herbijudlestoids: hullo kakobrekla
herbijudlestoids: hullo jurov
herbijudlestoids: theo: what advice did you want from these dicks
theo: I was asking about havelock and MPEX. Why jurov though that havelock would go down like so many of the other security exchanges
herbijudlestoids: theo: i think the general perception around here is they are in it for the hype, ergo its unsustainable
theo: Ok so not actually to do with legal reasons etc?
jurov: because havelock does not uphold any standards and it's up to issuers. i can't say that clearer
herbijudlestoids: they list "businesses", MPex prides itself on only listing what it deems to actually have a business model
theo: jurov i think thats a bit backwards as they do have standards. Otherwise they would have a fuck load more IPO as they reject a lot as well.
theo: They just might not have good standards
theo: Ok thank you herbu
theo: herbi*
taub: ahaha i didn't even look into dogecoin closely until now
taub: but it's such a scam wow
taub: meme driven pump and dump
taub: only use is mine and sell ?
taub: unlimited cions
herbijudlestoids: theo: there have been some good examples shown iirc, you can trawl the logs if you wish
theo: will do
theo: whats your opinion herbi? are you also of the opinion that havelock will crumble and fall? The only reason i have some faith in havelock is there investment of SFI which was able to raise 2 million

herbijudlestoids: theo: no specific opinion, tho if i wanted to build an exchange it would look more like mpex and less like havelock
theo: Alright thank's :). If i wanted to build a exchange i think i would touch up on it from MPEX or at least the front end lol. And also his personal skills
herbijudlestoids: thats because you think like a very small fish
herbijudlestoids: MPEX is conceptually equivalent to a large scale exchange on the order of NYSE or CME
herbijudlestoids: the frontend is irrelevent to the end user and in those cases is absolutely not exposed
herbijudlestoids: users of the system interact with the exchange through brokerage
theo: agreed
herbijudlestoids: so? the frontend has really nothing to do with it, nor his personal skills
herbijudlestoids: hell give you a seat on the exchange for 30BTC
theo: Well i think you do miss some idea. The majority of stocks sold on the exchanges like Dow Jones or Nasdaq are used through brokerages because the majority of people do not have the technical know how on how to use a system or have the time to learn how its used. So if I were making a exchange i would do an idea of both providing one like his, with the ability to be your own brokerage and hence if people wanted charge a additio
assbot: [HAVELOCK] [CBTC] 1200 @ 0.00021997 = 0.264 BTC [+]

Namworld: I need a ghost modern city I won't have to take a plane accross the oceans to see in China.

Namworld: Naaaaahhh
mircea_popescu: he has bitcoins, what danger.

mircea_popescu: nubbins` what's to like ?! it's a cafeteria.

nubbins`: pankkake, the feeling of power than one gets from having a very long-winded, very specific drink order plays a part in this too
mircea_popescu: wait what ?!
pankkake: of course not you have to stand in line in cool places
pankkake: otherwise it can't be cool
mircea_popescu: wait wait. so basically... they want to be me, except with something small that they can understand. it's not "build me a thing so and so and back and forth", which is what execs do all day.

nubbins`: mod6, tall is small
moiety: mircea_popescu: wait, lmao was i only meant to have 6 tries?!
mircea_popescu: what's a venti ?

nubbins`: and thus, 20oz of drink
mircea_popescu: moiety no, i mean, do like 200
mircea_popescu: but the italians don't use ounces
moiety: and re coffee: my first thought was what are they serving? there's no licence and it's free, could be anything
nubbins`: mircea_popescu: nor do they allow starbucks in their country
nubbins`: (lel x100)
mod6: yeah, they told me that, and im like thinkin... 'only in starbucks-universe, when someone orders a `tall` they give you a kiddy cup'
mircea_popescu: so how do you say tall, grande ?
moiety: ahhh but but but mircea_popescu ... i'm at 71% lol that won't stick if i keep playing XD
nubbins`: mod6, the kiddy cup is a "short"
nubbins`: from smallest to biggest: short, tall, grande, venti
mod6: *sigh*
mircea_popescu: what happens if i order insalata caprese ?
nubbins`: short isn't on the menu
mod6: when did coffee get so complicated?

mircea_popescu: alice wants oxycodone for her surgery she stays in the hospital.
mircea_popescu: problem solved. next ?
nubbins`: hospital stays are a burden on the taxpayer, problem unsolved
mircea_popescu: dub my point being that you don't want subservience, you want competence.
dub: yeah wtf
dub: a bed for everyone that needs pain relief?
mircea_popescu: nubbins` not quite.
mircea_popescu: dub who needs "pain relief" when they're stuck in hospital ?
nubbins`: ^ humans?
mircea_popescu: people need pain relief if you let them outside.
mircea_popescu: you'd be surprised.
nubbins`: yeah dude, shit doesn't hurt in the hospital
dub: havent you seen the matrix?
mircea_popescu: suddenly it's a well this oxycodone is kinda cool, but im stuck here for a day cause of it.
mircea_popescu: i guess i maybe don't really need it anymore.
nubbins`: okay, so you have a herniated disc
mircea_popescu: so you do.
nubbins`: your choices are stay in the hospital for 6 months or deal with unbearable chronic pain for 6 months
nubbins`: sounds like it'd work in practice
mircea_popescu: what, you think herniated disks were invented AFTER oxycodone ?
nubbins`: wait, no it doesn't
mircea_popescu: tell you what, it's only unbearable cause you're used to being a sissy
mircea_popescu: pain is eminently bearable.
nubbins`: well if we're being obstinate, suppose alice has a job that she can't perform when experiencing high levels of pain
mircea_popescu: of all things it's actually the most bearable. as people die of thirst in a coupla days and of hunger in a coupla months
nubbins`: or do we just shoot everyone who hurts their back?
mircea_popescu: but you can be in pain indefinitely and it won't kill you.
dub: spoken like someone that doesnt know pain
mircea_popescu: nubbins` tough for her, she no longer has that job.
mircea_popescu: dub of everyone here i'm the only guy that gets his teeth fixed w/o anesthesia i'd wager.
nubbins`: okay, so what does she do now?
mircea_popescu: also probably the only guy to have ever been shot etc.
nubbins`: jobless and in pain
mircea_popescu: nubbins` tough for her.
mircea_popescu: next time she'll be more careful.
nubbins`: no, tough for the hospital staff she shoots
mircea_popescu: she shoots my ass.
dub: pff minor league
nubbins`: if your ass is in the door, yes
mircea_popescu: you give alice way too much credit while simultaneously giving her way too little credit.
mircea_popescu: if she's cool enough to start shooting she's cool enough to take it on the chin and move on.
nubbins`: you use "tough" like it's an explanation more often than an intelligent person should
mircea_popescu: because im confronted with "but mommy i don't like X" way more often than any sane person should.
punkman: mircea_popescu: I skip the anesthesia at the dentist, hate having a numb face for 4 hours after
mircea_popescu: so good for you.
mircea_popescu: how unbearable is it ?
punkman: but it's hard to stay still for the bigger fillings and shit
nubbins`: anyway, as lovely as this little "kill everyone" scheme sounds
mircea_popescu: supposedly tooth pain is way up there on the scale.
mod6: i went without the stuff until i had 4 teeth drilled without it. that sucked.
nubbins`: tooth pain is a bad one
punkman: I definitely sweat a bit, not that unbearable
nubbins`: inner ear pain is tough as well
mod6: i must be getting soft
mircea_popescu: mod6 i'm not proposing some never anesthesia bs incidentally.
mircea_popescu: just illustrating the point that there's nothing unbearable about pain.
mircea_popescu: it may not be what you want to be doing, sure,
KRS-One: wut
nubbins`: so replace "unbearable" with "excruciating" or w/e
mircea_popescu: but then again that's not the criteria now is it.
nubbins`: you're getting caught up in semantics
KRS-One: pain sucks and i wont bare it
dub: replace unbearable with 'prevents you from being fully utilised'
nubbins`: so alice can't get pain meds without a costly hospital stay
punkman: chronic pain is different, it can really wear you down
dub: enough to blow your retarded argument away
mircea_popescu: this utilitartian angle is not going anywhere dub
nubbins`: alice decides to self-medicate with booze
nubbins`: PROBLEM SOLVED
benkay: no nubbins` this 'kill everyone' is the actual plan. all of the above are just implementation details.
nubbins`: wait, shit, now we've got drunkards everywhere driving cars and beating their kids
mircea_popescu: nubbins` if that;s what she does good for her.
KRS-One: nubbins` I think pot is the best pain killer that isnt made in a lab
nubbins`: KRS-One, but drugs tough etc
mircea_popescu: nobody said she can drive a car drunk any more than she can have oxycodone outpatient style.
nubbins`: you should not be allowed to smoke pot unless you are in a hospital
nubbins`: mircea_popescu: who's to stop her?
mircea_popescu: you can smoke pot whenever you want, who cares.
KRS-One: nubbins` alcohol is way worse than pot..you can't overdose on da ganja either
nubbins`: so pot is fine but oxycodone isn't?
KRS-One: oxycodone is great anytime of the day or week.
mircea_popescu: nubbins` pretty much heroin is the only entry on my list of "drugs"
nubbins`: innnnteresting
mircea_popescu: your list may vary at your leisure, the argument is list independent
nubbins`: sounds like there's not much drug use in your town
mircea_popescu: kids and their pills mostly.
dub: no, they kill and eat drug users
mircea_popescu: dub no, they just don't have this "omg what do you want" culture yet
dub: clearly a winning strategy
mircea_popescu: so the society is reasonably functional still.
mircea_popescu: yeah, actually it is, dubsy.
nubbins`: heroin isn't even really a thing here
nubbins`: cocaine and pills

mircea_popescu: with their own tools.
nubbins`: i do have to lel when i see people jam most of an 8ball up their nose at the bar and then ask if the coffee is "fair trade" at the shop the next day
nubbins`: was that fair trade coke you jammed up your face?
mircea_popescu: people making 900 a month in food stamps and free housing over there hang around the cortners glaring at passer bys
mircea_popescu: so no, don't be telling me about how shit functions and doesn't.
dub: heroin is very clique'y
assbot: [HAVELOCK] [CBTC] 12927 @ 0.00019999 = 2.5853 BTC [+] {8}
nubbins`: sure, but you take away that 900 and food stamps and housing tomorrow and the city would burn to the ground in a week
mircea_popescu: anyway, re the list : to be an addictive substance something needs to actually give addiction
nubbins`: much harder to take away once given
mircea_popescu: the definition of which is "sudden discontinuation = death"
nubbins`: so, booze fits the definition
mircea_popescu: not that many substances presented as addictive actually are in any sense.
nubbins`: are you new? alcohol withdrawal kills
dub: can you name one?
mircea_popescu: in lalaland.
mircea_popescu: dub heroin. some synthetics.

mircea_popescu: and wantboy shouldn't have to eat the peas

mircea_popescu: about 0.0% cause everyone was affraid of reporting it.

mircea_popescu: also at the time romania ruled the gymnastics at the olympics
mircea_popescu: because 15 yo girls and beating.
