Show Idle (>14 d.) Chans

jurov: I have already moved, just few kilometers, still living in Slovakia, but it took better part of year to clean up the old flat for sale, the building has been renovated too.
feedbot: << Trilema -- A vvord on Shakespear
BingoBoingo: And in other news, CIA stooge interim president rejects dialogue and diplomacy
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo i seem to recall a trilema article about stealing a country, by creating an imaginary alt-country and just pretending that's it ; i can't quite find it now, and it's a shame, considering how prophetic it turns out to be.
BingoBoingo: Will look, think I remember a title snippet
mircea_popescu: there's of course also in the vein, but there was an exact one ;/
mircea_popescu: mebbe alf has it indexed.
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu:
a111: Logged on 2016-08-01 00:44 mircea_popescu: << oh, "color revolutions" dun work ? tell you what, we'll steal your country's exports and with the proceeds finance an alt-country we'll pretend is realy your country. ha-ha!
asciilifeform: ^ was a log item.
mircea_popescu: oh it was huh!
mircea_popescu: ty
asciilifeform: np
asciilifeform: (in fact had it indexed.)
mircea_popescu: pretty shameful that this human stain still exists, incidentally.
mircea_popescu: i'd readily trade a few endangered species or w/e, an australia or two glassed, for its erradication.
asciilifeform: it's 1 of those brit-empire algos the current derps 'inherited' (brits packed it in india but left behind a pakistan; usg , then, in germany (standing), korea (standing), vietnam (oops), taiwan (standing), etc
BingoBoingo: NO, pretty sure there's a trilema
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo a rly ?
asciilifeform: dun seem like this one's in there
BingoBoingo reading
mircea_popescu: i mean... it's a great read and all, but doesn't happen to be what i had in mind. pretty sure the logline was it.
BingoBoingo not seeing that in their either
asciilifeform: for completeness, oughta include the laughably failed attempts -- the london-based 'alt-gov'-s of poland, ukrs, etc
mircea_popescu: lotta failed attempts, and the success of the successes extremely fucking dubious.
mircea_popescu: they're the sorta "fix that works while not needed" nonsense "elected representative governments" tend to come up with
mircea_popescu: or, in the immortal words of a ~very typical~ (if coincidentally naive enough orc as to be plain about it),
mircea_popescu: that's what THEY ALL SAY. "i deeply regret nothing else and nothing besides having had the misfortune of being in the white house when our taiwan turned out to be a paper wrap on burning fire and no more -- all the OTHERS had it much better, because then the paper wrap LOOKED solid enough"
asciilifeform: these are the folx for whom e.g. tyre fire of libya is a 'success' ( ghaddafi dead? check. no unified arabistan ? check. etc )
mircea_popescu: keks.
mircea_popescu: libya is why they lost syria.
mircea_popescu: russkis bothered with it ~specifically~ to exploit usg's shocking cuntitude as a superlative of weakness and for no other imaginable reason.
BingoBoingo: The only people for whom libya was a success are the cucks who enjoy Germany getting "BlaKKKED (TM)(R)"

BingoBoingo: In other news the psyops are really cranking up in Vzla. 10+ hours sin luz in the barrios where the generals and colonels live daily since wednesday. Someone wants to bore these folks into taking to the streets
asciilifeform: not good prognosis , if fuhrer can't keep generals plugged in
asciilifeform: ( or for that matter, if he dun shoot 1 pantsuit per hour of outage, imho )
BingoBoingo: Well, buy moar Cisco y Seimens
asciilifeform: an' runmoarwinblowz aha
BingoBoingo: Seriously one big Huawei advert this
asciilifeform: difficult to picture a better advert for sane systems than stuxnet et al. but somehow didn't sink into thick orc heads.

BingoBoingo: If Maduro falls I suspect it will be for a falta of GPGgrams offering to trade rum for hanbot hours of decisionmaking, but the list of countries that do shit still weight heavily towards Maduro.
asciilifeform: if the 'countries that do shit' can't be arsed to keep his lights on...
BingoBoingo: NATO breaking, EU breaking, and nothing clearly resembling a bomb has dropped
mircea_popescu: kinda the sad conclusion from prior, also : you need pantsuit to decapitate orc heads, because otherwise orc heads "soberania" all over themselves and you get argentina, qatar etc.
BingoBoingo: Russia/Turkey/China/...(10+spaces)/Italy
BingoBoingo: There's noise over whether or not UAE is buying Vzla gold for good stuff in spite of being USA#1!!!, but indeterminate
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: iirc mircea_popescu had this essay where 'why wouldja give money to a bear ? bear can't spend money, may as well give it straight to hunter'
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: No bear in this contest. We've got mongoloids choosing to be retarded and mongoloids born that way trying to drool it out in the ring
mircea_popescu: speaking of money, spent all day on huge harem shopping trip. i am now in possession of picture including bimbo on 8 inch platforms holding the ~$2.70 receipt for them.
mircea_popescu: WHY GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE, i say.
asciilifeform: 'i didn't get rich by writing a lot of checks!'(tm)(r)
BingoBoingo has a couple of very beefy dragonflies on the balcony tonight
mircea_popescu: buy the girls their weight in shit, spend on it less than what they could make on street corner in an hour. only recipe for happiness there is!
asciilifeform in process of buying surplus industrial xraytron, built for scanning corpses of laboratory animals, 70kg 'bank safe' with shields etc
asciilifeform: dial-a-keV.
asciilifeform: i suppose will also work a++ for asciilifeform's peine forte et dure!11
BingoBoingo: Girls can still make on the street corner in Costa Rica?
BingoBoingo: Here the girls have to go to a parada de omníbus and wait for someone who isn't too retarded to know why they aren't taking a bus.
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: thinking also, when we bake batch of 'FG 2' or etc., can include radiographs of virginal pcb for extra fee
asciilifeform: digitized/signed, naturally
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo sure, lotta ustards touristing.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform this is a great idea, actually.
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: i've had this notion in the pipeline for ages.
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: Nah, Brasiltards are the target market, but naturally they can't hook the brasil tards because Protuguese trips the faggot signal in their ears
BingoBoingo: There are few UStards in Uruguay
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: only reason i did not go with it prior, is that overestimated the expense
BingoBoingo: A few old "retire for less" folks may be in Piriapolis and Atlantida on undefendable homesteads. All the other UStards rent fast with the exception of single digit count of 20-40 year old losers selling pot under market and "teaching" english to get by
asciilifeform: all sortsa surplus gear is sold for less 'per kg' than those platform shoes. principal difficulty for asciilifeform specifically, is floor space
asciilifeform: it's the only reason i dun have e.g. electron microscope, etc
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Do you want me to specifically look for floorspace?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: there's no way in heaven or hell that i can get these through orc customs; not without uboat
BingoBoingo: Yacht club is a thing.
asciilifeform: presently we're limited there to uninteresting-looking objects that can be hand-carried.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i suppose if mircea_popescu ever feels like putting his to use for such thing.
BingoBoingo: If there are interesting objects outside of suitcase ability and with sufficently economic need, shit can be tried
BingoBoingo: If the payload is worth trying
BingoBoingo: Less than a kilometer from El Puertito de Buceo to the datacenter. There are other "clubs" on the city shores.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu had essay the other day where 'typesetter works for the bigger bux, elsewhere.' the folx with uboat capability, are moving 'white gold', not microscopes.
BingoBoingo: In one direction
asciilifeform: well, speaking generally, 'microscopes' move ~from~ the collapsing industrial reich that they fall out of.
BingoBoingo: There is more surplus cocaine paste here than the number of pichis can justify. The Powder has to be headed somewhere.
asciilifeform: sorta reverse of 'paste'.
BingoBoingo: Paste only happens here because Vasquez wants to be BFFs with Morales
BingoBoingo: There's an implied circuit of transit where at least one leg is underweight
asciilifeform: it's funny, actually, the queue to come ~out~ of usa is 10 minutes long, and they 'search' for pocket knives and other ceremonials. queue to come ~in~ is 3hrs and they search arse, with dogs.
asciilifeform: assumption is 'terrorists want to move objects FROM orcistan TO reich'
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: even supposing i had a teleporter -- dun seem like BingoBoingostan is in fact the mythical mecca of cheap floor space envisioned to exist somewhere
BingoBoingo: In other news, the apparently perfect mellow high yeild short time to flower marijuana genetics have been identified. None of the orcs want to bother planting it. It could unleash hell in the US and do ~nothing here
BingoBoingo: BingoBoingistan has a lack of floorspace, but any floorspace here guarentees ferrocement
BingoBoingo: The main thoroughfare 18 de Julio is dominated by old fucks running single retail stores spending the rest of their space on warehouse surrounding their showroom.
BingoBoingo: Bidding competition is the 11-12 story residential overbuilders
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: if you think about it, it's actually quite logical that floorspace in all places asciilifeform can easily get to , costs approx. same.

asciilifeform: but asciilifeform couldn't for 1000.
BingoBoingo: How many pounds of gas, how many watts of fence, how many ounces of buckshot per meter of hallway...
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: again, prolly not 'pounds of shot' but '# of gurlz sleeping in shifts'
BingoBoingo: Girls sleeping in shifts is mostly a food cost
asciilifeform: lol same way red army is 'food cost'
BingoBoingo: No, because red army doesn't love you
asciilifeform: sure does if yer The generalissimus, lol
asciilifeform: if one could terraform planets with mere moneys, not only bmore but buenos aires , patagonia, etc. would be inhabited.

BingoBoingo: The problem is una falta de folx
asciilifeform: it dun buy that much, see. ( see also the article with the bear. )
BingoBoingo: Today I acquired a cultural artifact known locally as a tenedor de ropa.
BingoBoingo: It fits exactly the space my AC compressor blows
asciilifeform: garderobe ?
BingoBoingo: I acquired it after two months of not needed the local laverdero located on this same block
asciilifeform: ( phunphakt, in plague-years europistan, garderobe often was combined with shitter, idea was that the miasma would kill fleas somehow )
BingoBoingo: With powdered determent sold by the kilogram and Latina sleeping here 3 nights a week (not taking her out of secular employment) I have a recipe for next day clean laundry.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: how does that work ? thing is hermetically sealed and you fill it with hose from the wash ??
BingoBoingo: At a cost of time, either hers or mine depending on the day of the week
asciilifeform: sovok-style washing machine ?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: The clothes get washed in buckets, lovingly. I have the whitest socks in the barrio.
asciilifeform misread as 'powdered deterrent' lol
BingoBoingo: The AC compressor now does double duty drying the clothes
asciilifeform: wb mats
BingoBoingo: wb indeed mats
BingoBoingo may have become a petty tyrant

asciilifeform: asciilifeform's pet , ~erry day at breakfast : 'when can i eat apple that tastes like apple again'
asciilifeform: ( ate a 'jonathan' in timis, see, 1nce )
BingoBoingo: OH, there's the food! During her "weekend" which as a nurse is the mundane middle of the week I send her with a saddam worth array of chemical weapons and half the pesos I would carry on the same adventure during the actual weekend. Then I eat well.
asciilifeform: oh hey betcha nurse has access to xraytron.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: No, here that requires dentist in Ukrvzla
asciilifeform: you gotta get that pet dentist back
asciilifeform: was a+++ chix.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Working with her girlfriend on that, but... Lesbians
asciilifeform: see mircea_popescu re lesbians.
BingoBoingo: That works in dicking range

asciilifeform: y'know, like boron trifluoride
mats: asciilifeform: learning to r/w chinese, struggling through 'microcorruption', backlog of books, ie and
BingoBoingo: Not when then have mega dog protected orchard and inexplicably immobile abuelos
asciilifeform: mats: funnily enuff asciilifeform also (slowly) learning cn.
mats: i can't for the life of me nail down tones, might have to hire a coach to help me with pinyin
asciilifeform: mats: i'm where can mostly demodulate, but haven't even attempted to modulate.
BingoBoingo: Always hire a live coach. even in Spanish, "todo bien" takes months of live practice to master the intonation.
asciilifeform: and pinyin is possibly built as a joke on the 'white devil', the encoding has ~0 relation much of the time to the actual sound
mats: are you listening to audio at all? pimsleur's mandarin series are pretty good
asciilifeform: mats: radio, for nao
asciilifeform: hm i recall BingoBoingo mentioned 'pimsleur', what was it
asciilifeform: i'ma guess series of tapes ?
asciilifeform: i did similar thing for engl as a boy, it was terrible prep, had to unlearn later
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Pimsleur Spanish was exactly wrong for Uruguay, but exactly right for Vzla
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: they taught me 'bbc', see

mats: i recently bought a kobo aura h2o (1st ed) eink reader, which is 6.8in, water resistant, reads pdfs and most formats unlike the kindle (which i think requires mobi), and most importantly takes a microsd card. filled it with the books, papers, logs i've carefully saved over last 10y, still have tons of space left on a 64gb card
mats: only thing left for me to do is export my 'pocket' bookmark collection into text format (kobi has some support for pocket, but its not very good), which i haven't figured out how to do yet
BingoBoingo: Sounds about right
mats: thats something pocket does ( stripped down ) , but they implemented oauth at some point and i'm not sure how to consume the output, or if i really wanna do that sans jpgs/pngs etc

BingoBoingo: unavoidable
